The scene happened when a few minutes earlier, the director duo Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen had kissed tenderly in front of the public. They had just won the jury prize for their film The Eight Mountains, a story of friendship between two men in the Italian Alps.
The French actress Carole Bouquet intervened on stage to present a special prize, that of the 75th edition. As she was preparing to award it to the Dardenne Brothers for Tori and Lokitashe took the opportunity to ask for a kiss from her friend and president of the jury, Vincent Lindon. “I feel a little lonely here. Vincent, won’t you come and kiss me?”she asked him with a little embarrassed laugh.
After some hesitation, Vincent Lindon got up to kiss her on the mouth, cheered and applauded by the audience at the Grand Théâtre Louis Lumière. “That’s cinema”concluded Carole Bouquet.
A kiss that did not leave Vincent Lindon indifferent, somewhat disturbed when announcing the winner of the 75th anniversary prize. “It’s a swimming president who will therefore announce the price…”he began before being interrupted by Carole Bouquet: “I am enchanted”.
