No tech provider chosen for digital currency so far, central bank denies

In a notice published on May 17, 2022, the Banque de la République d’Haïti informs that no technology provider has been chosen to date, as part of the Central Bank’s digital currency issuance project ( MDBC). To this end, an international call for tenders will be published shortly, underlines the BRH.

Port-au-Prince, May 20, 2022.- “No technology provider has been chosen to date, as part of the project to issue a digital currency from the central bank (MDBC)”, it is what the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) said in an opinion.

According to the BRH, an international tender will be launched shortly to choose a technology solution firm. This, in accordance with the laws relating to public procurement.

The Central Bank also emphasizes that it is the only competent authority that can provide information on the different phases of its digital currency issuance project.
